Lots of new vintage stock tweed, coats, suits, fur & sparkles

Lots of new stock to be uploaded to the site this week, I can't stop myself from buying when I see so much fab stuff.  For the vintage ladies, here's a sneeky peek at; a pair of polka dot gloves, a notso vintage but very retro peach satin scarf with ruffles, a smart charcoal grey ladies tweed swing coat with a lovely silvery grey quilted satin lining, a stunning Little Red Riding Hood red velvet evening cape, with quilted pink lining and a hood, an asymetrical fox fur collar/stole with adjustable fastener, a sienna coloured ladies tweed hat which are the hot fashion accessory this season, a chic silk Richard Allen scarf and a very glam diamante bel, perfect for the party season. Then for the chaps A gorgeous grey tweed 2 piece suit, a knitted waistcoat with pockets or as we used to call them a Grandad Cardy, I bought a couple of mens tweed overcoats, only one shown here. I also have one already listed on the site too, and a lovely quality pair of oxblood/cherry br

Sneaky Peek at Dapper 1930s Morning Suit

Well I've  mentioned a few of these items in the last post, but I photographed the morning suit this morning and haven't listed it yet, so thought I'd give you a sneaky peek of what's to come in the shop soon. It's a Moss Bros size 40R, with a grey backless waistcoat and grey wedding striped trousers complete with button braces. The spats, dove grey suede gloves and top hat are already listed, and I'll also be listing soon the marcella thistlebud white bow tie and marcella fronted, wing tip collar shirt too. Enjoy!

From Gold Fever to Baroque'n'roll Bling It ON!

Yikes it's been a while hasn't it. I natter every day practically on Facebook and am uploading new items almost every day too, yet when it comes to the old blog I have been somewhat lax, oops. Well it's feeling like Christmas at Vampalicious Towers this week, with new deliveries coming in by the day, opening up boxes of new vintage goodies to upload onto the site, and I've started to feel all gilded and sparkly, so have added a metallic category for you to search through, to achieve the Baroque and Roll trend for the festive season. I've also taken delivery of a few more vintage evening dress and formalwear items for the chaps, along with several stunning tweed blazers, a couple of  double breasted tuxedos, a white and black one, Akco cummerbunds, an original pair of white spats and shiny patent dance shoes and to top it all off a gorgeous silk Christie's top hat .  I also have the white tie, the tails and some stiff fronted shirts and stiff c

Blimey time flies, sorry I haven't posted in a few months I got somewhat waylayed and distracted. But to celebrate the generosity of the sun being in Leo I am offering a 20% off Summer Sale at Vintage Vampalicious - so browse on over and pick up a bargain or three.

Winter coats and summer kaftans it's a British summer

The great British summer, giving us glorious sunny skies on one day then torrential rain and floods the next, so I've accommodated this and uploaded some winter coats and vintage furs along with vintage kaftans . I have also updated the menu system on the front page and added lots of new sections, so you may find something now that you never knew I had.   I've also been on a buying spree and have received boxes of new stuff to upload to the shop a collection of fur collars, mens Harvie & Hudson dress shirts, stiff collars and marcella waistcoats and another Royal Navy uniform.  Today's pick ups include; a brand new 100% wool tweed jacket, an original leather portmanteau, a handmade pair of Samual Windsor chelsea boots, an alpaca shawl, Edwardian bone necklace, deco dress clip, and a green wool Austrian stiff brimmed original Tyroler Loden deerstalker hat. That'll be keeping me busy in the studio for a while.

Vintage Tins & Packaging

I've been off on a slight detour from the vintage fashion side of things as I got a box of vintage tins and packaging to sell for a friend last week, so I've been uploading them to the shop today.  It's been fascinating for me as in another life I was a graphic designer so I've really been enjoying looking at the packaging and design aspect of days gone buy, I love the Creme de Menthe tin which is still attractive today from when it was made in the 1930s.

A new look for my vintage shop

I've been busy updating the look and design  of  Vintage Vampalicious by adding lots of new categories, uploading lots of new products which I am still doing almost daily and updated the logo and colour palette too. Drop on by and see what you think and feel free to comment with some feedback, it would be great to hear what you think. I've added a whole load of vintage for chaps categories, including; mantiques , loungewear and militaria , I have a whole box of RAF and Royal Naval uniforms to photograph and upload, so if you are looking for something to wear for Goodwood and you can't see it on the site then get in touch, as I may well have it in stock or if not I could probably source it for you. I also still have a box of vintage fabrics to measure up and upload along with vintage and antique lines and lacework dating back to the 17th century, jewelley and scarves, and that's all before I get on the Victorian gowns and costume. Phew a way to go yet, but slowl

Buying vintage for lovely chaps

I seem to have been on a shopping bender for the chaps recently, with coming across nice dinner suits and accessories. I even found a midnight blue dinner suit that is very similar to James Bond's both from Doctor No, which was his first dinner suit in the 60s and more recently in Quantum of Solace with Daniel Craig and coincidentally I found it literally round the corner from where Mr Craig was hanging out last Christmas - ooh it set the mind a wandering I can tell you, especially as it's in his size too. It's not a Tom Ford design though, it is actually tailored for Jacob Reed's Sons in Philadelphia.   I also bought this lovely vintage double breasted 1940s de-mob dinner jacket or tuxedo, it's a Utility garment with a CC41 label and made by Montague Burton of Oxford Street, the label says; 'The Tailor of Taste", love it.   Then to keep yourself nice and smart a sweet vintage leather grooming set which has chromium bottles with bakelite scr

Mad March Hats, a teeny weeny bikini & latest finds

I've been on a shopping mission and found an assortment of colourful lovely vintage finds. Above a blue velvet hat and far right a black velvet beret style hat, the two centre pink and yellow hats are actually Tropicana headscarves and they'd both look fab teamed with the itsy bitsy teeny ween pin-up gitl bikini below wouldn't they. Then I came across this box of 5 Goddess bras still with the original store tags on them and in a box that says "I owe it all to Goddess Bras" - fab. They are labelled as 34D but the cup size is a good 8" across so I really think they're probably a DD. They've got hooks & eyes on both sides of the strap for extra security! I love this oriental Japanese Victorian low fronted rounded shawl collar waistcoat in a burgundy silk brocade, from Ari Dono of Kyoto Japan. with two pockets, four satin buttons, adjustable back. 36" chest, 34" waist. ....and so you have me Moriarty.  And another little b

Eek I'm going for it full time

Eeeeek, nervous as a wibbly thing. I have thrown all caution to the wind and have decided to go full time self-employed selling vintage gear as Vampalicious, so please be kind and buy lots from me.  I've booked myself into my first proper vibtage fair at Sherborne, Digby Hall this Saturday, so come & have a browse & say hello. I've also been making progress in finding a shop unit and have narrowed my hunt down to a little spot in either Castle Scary or Langport, both are quite tempting at the moment, so I'm not sure which I'll opt for just yet. When I have decided I'll be offering dress agency services for good quality vintage glamourous clothes as well as selling my own hand picked items, so if you are local and have something gorgous you'd like to sell via my shop then please get in touch. I've bagged up my vintage patterns, bought  some lovely purple mail bags and bright pink tissue paper for postage packaging, been designing a new logo to g

A few new additions & setting up a vintage cooperative

Just in the process of adding a few new additions to the vintage shop. I have been busy trying to tweek the design of the front page and interior pages but came to a crashing halt when my modem went kaput, so while I was offline I used the current sunshine we have here and photographed a few more items to upload. I love this purple hat, I would have snatched it for myself but it doesn't fit me as I have a teeny head with a bird brain, as with the chinese coat too, which is also too large a size for me personally darn it! I've also been out and about scouting for a shop premises and have potentially found a couple of options in a beautiful quintessential Somerset village. I am now on the lookout for other vintage traders to come on board with me as a vintage cooperative, so if you live in Somerset & sell vintage related items or crafts and are looking for a showroom space, then get in touch. I'll hopefully have a variety of flexible spaces to offer. Wonderful 60

Weldons patterns & small changes

Well here's a quickie update after being offline for so long. I've tweeked the main website main page and at some point the rest of the site will follow in suit, I want it to look fresher than it does, but it's hard work not being a web designer and takes ages too. While I was out today, I met up with Sue from The Dairy House Antiques for a welcome coffee, teacake & a chat about units and vacant shop premises, I managed to pick up a few more Weldons paper vintage dressmaking patterns. These three pictured above all come with embroidery templates to add extra detailing to your blouse once you've made it, but of course you could also use the templates to add a lovely design to anything as an added bonus. I'll be uploading to the site soon, but if you'd fancy one then please just let me know. Toodlepip.

Vintage Jewellery, pretty buttons & a dilema

I picked up some lovely vintage buttons and brooches recently, here's a sample taster of what will be appearing at the online shop soon, or even at a fair if I ever manage to book myself in for one. Or.... if I manage to decide which shop unit to go for. I've been offered a place in either Yeovil or Castle Cary and I just can't make up my mind. Help.... where would you prefer to come and visit my shop - suggestions please?  Very pretty mother of pearl art deco design I love these green bakerlite trifoil shaped buttons Small little metal navy buttons This is an unusual metal button of a griffin or phoenix This is the Chinese new Year symbol for this year, the water Dragon, hopefully it might bring some luck with it, as red is the Chinese lucky colour for prosperity Gorgeous and stylish faux pearls in a bunch of grapes on a gold coloured leafy base All the above are for sale
