New stock arriving thick & fast

Well I've only been open a couple of weeks and people are bringing boxes of vintage treasures through my door, so far there's been this fabulous bespoke made vintage 1950s 3 piece tweed suit in a brown windowpane check with a hint of yellow  and copper lining. It's in a good size too at 44-46" chest and 32" inside leg, the trouser waist is 40" and along with the jacket have been let out at some point in their history. The suit is dated 1954.      The same people brought in a stash of 1950s and 60s cocktail dresses and evening gowns, below is a fabulous lime green silk number. Another silk and such a classic style this is a timeless full length evening gown. In the most beautiful copper silk with gold and ivory bands running horizontally, I love it.   Below is a wild and colourful Peter Barron 1960s dress, made from Tricel fabric which is usually used for silky cravats. This dress is lightweight and slinky with the most intense ora...

Happy Birthday & 1 month to Vintage Vampalicious

I forgot to post a Happy Birthday anniversary post, but I've been going for one year and a month now and still here, justabout woohoo. It's been really hard just selling online, with a very small customer base viewing my stock and website but sales have been trickling in every month and I have to say our customers are truly fabulous. I am still on the waiting list to do local vintage fairs here in Somerset, so fingers crossed I'll get a slot soon ;o). Over the past year my direction of stock and customers have also veered towards the chaps and revival crowd, so I have a lot of vintage tweed and vintage furs, which are selling well. Overall I have over 500 vintage and antique items of clothing and accessories including homewares and collectibles and vintage uniforms too, perfect for the Goodwood Revival - so if you haven't check out Vintage Vampalicious yet - what are you waiting for, come on over and take a look, it'd be great to see you!

From Gold Fever to Baroque'n'roll Bling It ON!

Yikes it's been a while hasn't it. I natter every day practically on Facebook and am uploading new items almost every day too, yet when it comes to the old blog I have been somewhat lax, oops. Well it's feeling like Christmas at Vampalicious Towers this week, with new deliveries coming in by the day, opening up boxes of new vintage goodies to upload onto the site, and I've started to feel all gilded and sparkly, so have added a metallic category for you to search through, to achieve the Baroque and Roll trend for the festive season. I've also taken delivery of a few more vintage evening dress and formalwear items for the chaps, along with several stunning tweed blazers, a couple of  double breasted tuxedos, a white and black one, Akco cummerbunds, an original pair of white spats and shiny patent dance shoes and to top it all off a gorgeous silk Christie's top hat .  I also have the white tie, the tails and some stiff fronted shirts and stiff c...

Winter coats and summer kaftans it's a British summer

The great British summer, giving us glorious sunny skies on one day then torrential rain and floods the next, so I've accommodated this and uploaded some winter coats and vintage furs along with vintage kaftans . I have also updated the menu system on the front page and added lots of new sections, so you may find something now that you never knew I had.   I've also been on a buying spree and have received boxes of new stuff to upload to the shop a collection of fur collars, mens Harvie & Hudson dress shirts, stiff collars and marcella waistcoats and another Royal Navy uniform.  Today's pick ups include; a brand new 100% wool tweed jacket, an original leather portmanteau, a handmade pair of Samual Windsor chelsea boots, an alpaca shawl, Edwardian bone necklace, deco dress clip, and a green wool Austrian stiff brimmed original Tyroler Loden deerstalker hat. That'll be keeping me busy in the studio for a while.

Mad March Hats, a teeny weeny bikini & latest finds

I've been on a shopping mission and found an assortment of colourful lovely vintage finds. Above a blue velvet hat and far right a black velvet beret style hat, the two centre pink and yellow hats are actually Tropicana headscarves and they'd both look fab teamed with the itsy bitsy teeny ween pin-up gitl bikini below wouldn't they. Then I came across this box of 5 Goddess bras still with the original store tags on them and in a box that says "I owe it all to Goddess Bras" - fab. They are labelled as 34D but the cup size is a good 8" across so I really think they're probably a DD. They've got hooks & eyes on both sides of the strap for extra security! I love this oriental Japanese Victorian low fronted rounded shawl collar waistcoat in a burgundy silk brocade, from Ari Dono of Kyoto Japan. with two pockets, four satin buttons, adjustable back. 36" chest, 34" waist. ....and so you have me Moriarty.  And another little b...

It's the season for log fires, mulled wine & vintage fur

Brrr it's getting chilly, but what perfect weather for getting this season's hottest and furriest trend out of the vintage closet, vintage and antique fur. If you haven't been able to raid your grandma's attic then check out our online shop because I've added a new section just for vintage fur . Click on each image to take you directly to the product.   I've mentioned this vibrant emerald green wolf fur coat before because it's so amazing to feel and also because it was allegedly made for  Sophia Loren's sister ( Maria Scicolone) by an Italian designer, the quality is undeniable on this item and I deny you not to feel like a moviestar bombshell when wearing it. I've never seen wolf fur before and the colour is just stunning too   Here's a classic pillbox hat the style epitomised by Jackie Onassis in the late 50s early 60s, very chic indeed. This hat is brown ermine, I think as it's very soft and fluffy with longer wet-look shin...
